The reduction is accomplished using fruit, iron or henna in the vat. Removing the oxygen from the water turns the vat green. After immersing the fabric in the vat, when you pull it out, it will be green, or reduced. It turns blue as it is exposed to oxygen in the air .(oxidation) It is one of the most magical dyes.

The little balls of silk are woven into the fine organza silk yarn on the loom. When the shed, or warp is up, the balls are placed inside the top and bottom warp. The beating of each “shot” makes the balls secure.
