Ultraviolet Sapponwood Silk Doublecloth Cloth Scarf

$45.00

A stunning, vibrant hue of ultraviolet is created by dyeing silk doublecloth in a concentrated bath of Sapponwood. Sapponwood is a flowering tree from Asia which gives colors ranging from reds to purples. It was traded in the 17th century for medicinal uses and herbal drinking water.

Doublecloth is made on the handloom by weaving two warps at once. The result is two layers of fine silk organza which can be separated at the side seams. When you open up the two layers, it results in more volume and sheerness. You can style it both ways, without opening the double layers, or just wearing it flat.

Care: The scarf is very easy to pack for travel. Hand wash or machine gentle cycle, hang to dry. May be ironed.
