African Violet Plant Dyed Silk Doublecloth Scarf

$45.00

This purple violet color was made by adding iron to the cochineal dyebath. Iron deepens or “saddens” colors. The more iron you use, the deeper the hue, The color reminds me of the African Violet plant that sat on my grade school’s teacher’s desk.

Doublecloth is made on the handloom by weaving two warps at once. The result is two layers of fine silk organza which can be separated at the side seams. When you open up the two layers, it results in more volume and sheerness. You can style it both ways, without opening the double layers, or just wearing it flat.

Care: The scarf is very easy to pack for travel. Hand wash or machine gentle cycle, hang to dry. May be ironed.

Dimensions: 68” long, 22” wide
