Here is another example of one of the many colors you can achieve with madder root dye. This particular scarf was in the dye pot at 140 degrees F. The heat creates the brilliant red. If you go higher to 140 degrees F, you will start to shift into the browns with red undertones,

This silk doublecloth scarf is woven on handlooms by fair trade artisans in India. I spec the weave structure and fiber. The undyed scarves arrive white, awaiting my ideas of color. They are structurally interesting. Two warps are placed on the loom and woven together at the same time, creating a seam at each side. The two layers are joined together, and you can pull them apart gently to create more volume for styling.

This red carf has been washed three times after it has been dyed and ironed. It's easy to pack, great for travel. The best way to care for the scarf is to handwash it, hang to dry and iron on a silk setting if you’d like a smoother finish.
