This gold and black silk scarf is woven by fair trade artisans on a hand loom. There are two warps placed on the loom at the same time. One is a fine black silk, the other, pure white silk. During the weaving process the two layers are woven together so that this double cloth scarf can be pulled apart to create the color contrast. The result is sculptural and dramatic. It allows you to style the scarf in many ways.
I dyed the scarf with pomegranate natural dye to create this gold. The black layer adds mystery with elegance.
After dyeing, the scarf is washed three times pressed. You can hand wash the wrap in cool water or put it on a gentle cycle. Hang to dry and iron it. It is colorfast.
It is scarf for all seasons and is long enough to create a cowl by tying the two ends together and wrapping it around your neck twice. This gold is one of the 2017-18 fashion colors.
