Super soft, warm, and with a great drape, this hand woven silk wool scarf is dyed with cochineal and little soda ash to raise the pH of the dye bath. The weaver from a fair trade village in India warped the loom with high twist silk and used very fine soft merino wool in the weft. When washed, the high twist silk gives the crinkled texture.

Soft and warm, this rose pink silk wool crinkle scarf has endless ways of styling to fit your personality.
This rose pink color was created by mixing cochineal dye and little soda ash to raise the pH of the dye bath. Cochineal is a bug that grows on the prickly pear cactus in Mexico. It is a very ancient dye, the source of beautiful reds.
The weavers used a very high twist silk in the warp, and a fine soft merino wool in the weft. The result is a very soft crinkle scarf with a great drape. It is the high twisted silk that creates the crinkle.
The fair trade weavers I work with are from a village near the east coast of India. I design the fabric for the scarf and they weave it with un-dyed natural fibers for me. It is like a blank canvas when it arrives, yet it carries the personality of each weaver. That is what I love about hand woven fabrics–you feel the connection with the person who made it.
Gorgeous soft rose pink abstract print on the silk charmeuse lining compliments most all skins tones. It is paired with an irridescent moss green silk velvet from France. The cowl is feminine and flattering, easy care and travel friendly.
